MINUIT [minweee!] - the band “If Lily Allen sang for The Kills, and UNKLE was the band..” MINUIT, the Kiwi band with the French name, have been jigglin' hips in Budapest and beyond. Fronted by the enigmatic Ruth Carr, her coy persona ignites and intrigues, while bandmates Ryan Beehre and Paul Dodge deliver an inventive indie arsenal which never loses sight of the desire to create fantastic songs. When this live indie-electronic three-piece released “The 88” in 2003 through independent label Tardus in NZ, no-one predicted the success of the debut, nor how warmly it would be received - until it sold gold. After this, Minuit followed up with their “Guns EP”, a limited run that sold out in the first week.
In 2006 they released their second album, “The Guards Themselves”, featuring 'Fuji' and underground club anthem 'A Room Full of Cute'. In Europe, Minuit caught the ear of Radio 1's Annie Nightingale who asked the band to record a 30 minute special for her show on Radio 1 at the BBC Maida Vale studios. Minuit also appeared on Pete Tong's 'Fastrax' video show. And Adam Freeland was emailing for gig tickets. Mixing sinister with salvation; chirpy with apocalyptic; and flying the flag for doing it their way - its Minuit!
"Minuit will do what The Crystal Method and Nubreed did for their countries - put New Zealand firmly on the dance scene's map” - Jay Cunning, London Kiss FM host, UK
"Arguably one of the most exciting acts ever to float north of the long white cloud" - Welcome Stranger magazine, UK |
