Traffik
Melbourne based soul singer Traffik explains why he's such a smooth operator...

The very busy and very soulful Traffik gives us 5 minutes of his time...

Tell us about the first time you were really inspired by music?
I would've been about three or four...singin' along to Sade's 'Smooth Operator'

What do you consider to be your greatest skill?
Songwriting

Name two albums you keep very close to hand.

Two albums that i keep close to hand are:

1) Maggot Brain -Funkadelic
2) There's a riot goin' on -Sly & The Family Stone

The road to musical success is often long and hard. What is one lesson you have learnt along the way that changed the way you saw things?
I have learnt MANY important lessons upon my musical journey...If I had to mention one, it would be: There isn't much that you can't do yourself...beware of the leeches!

Who inspires you? (Both in life and in music)
I am inspired by a few blessed individuals...
In life: My Grandmother, both my Mother and Father, my children and Mumia Abu Jamal. In music: Stevie Wonder, Prince, Joi Gilliam aka Tennessee Slim and Van Hunt.

Tell us a quirky fact about yourself no one else knows!
I am a neat/clean freak!

If you could have two wishes come true what would they be?
The only two wishes I have is for my two sons, Jesse and Elijah to be blessed with a healthy, happy and less-troubled life than their Father.

Before you step on stage for a gig, what do you do to prepare?
Make sure to do a thorough soundcheck and say a lil' prayer before taking the stage.

What do your parents think of what you do? Have you ever taken them along to a gig?
My parents have ALWAYS been most supportive of my musical endeavours...haven't taken them to a gig, but, have shown them plenty of video footage.

If you could be remembered for one thing, what would it be?
If I could be remembered for one thing it would be: A brother who touched people through his music.

Having spent so much time on aeroplanes, are you an official member of the mile high club?
Yes, indeed!

Traffik's debut EP 'Soul of the Streets' is out through iTunes now. Keep an ear out for news on his upcoming album!
