This multitalented Kiwi offers us some insight into his musical roots...

Tell us about the first time you were really inspired by music?

I think I was around 8 years old, buzzing out to the radio, wondering how the sound came out. I really liked to draw on paper the sound I heard, which looked like squiggles and bumps. It wasn’t till years later in the studio that I saw those same lines again, but as sound waves.

What do you consider to be your greatest skill?
I’m still working on that.

Name two albums you keep very close to hand.
At tha moment I have been rocking ‘My Sound’ by Kromestar and ‘Faster than Light’ by State of Mind.

The road to musical success is often long and hard. What is one lesson you have learnt along the way that changed the way you saw things?
That being responsible for your music and art and to hold its hand through all tha twists and turns, will give your work more integrity, more weight and a deeper impact which will resonate at a higher frequency.

Who inspires you? (Both in life and in music)
At the moment my 3 week old son has inspired me more than I could have imagined. Musically I’m feeling Apple Loops, they have an awesome sample and beat library.

Tell us a quirky fact about yourself no one else knows!
 I’m clumsy.

If you could have two wishes come true what would they be?
I’m not to sure, but ending world hunger by providing those who are going without the skills and tools to grow and harvest crops, would be a great way to start. Then with my last wish I would ask for more wishes.

Before you step on stage for a gig, what do you do to prepare?
Usually star jumps and push ups will get the blood flowing. Singing the alphabet in a musical scale, also rapping helps warm the vocals up. Jager and Tequila shots gets the hype on. Then a rugby scrum huddle with my band and crew to pull us all together, with a short Karakia (pray) to clear the space.

What do your parents think of what you do? Have you ever taken them along to a gig?
My dad is in my band; he’s 61 and says its tha highlight of his life. My mum has always supported me more than most mums would. She brought my first electric guitar, filmed my first gig and helped fund my solo album ‘Past Present Future’ and my website www.tikidub.com . Thanx mum.

If you could be remembered for one thing, what would it be?
Tha guy that sung that song.

Having spent so much time on aeroplanes, are you an official member of the mile high club?
Technically no.
