The Angry Kids' main man Ry2k overshares with too much info on the size and shape of his toes...
Tell us about the first time you were really inspired by music? I was 10 years old, I heard Bark at The Moon by Ozzy Osbourne for the first time. I went directly to the kitchen and sacrificed a chicken- it has been downhill ever since. What do you consider to be your greatest skill? I have so few to choose from- I will probably say my ability to laugh at myself. Something I consider a precious gift.
Name two albums you keep very close to hand. The Ramones- Anthology Faith No More- Angel Dust
The road to musical success is often long and hard. What is one lesson you have learnt along the way that changed the way you saw things? No matter how close anyone is to you- they may turn on you the second they think it will benefit themselves. Even if that benefit may be for a mere moment.
Who inspires you? (Both in life and in music) Life- My grandmother Jessie Mackedenski- I miss her everyday, and hope I am making her proud. In music - Motown, Squeeze -Anything with great hooks and memorable melodies really. Both - My wife Jennifer, she keeps me at bay.
Tell us a quirky fact about yourself no one else knows! My second and third toes are longer than my big toe, a lot longer.
If you could have two wishes come true what would they be? 1) To spend one more day with my grandmother. 2) I was once told by a wise person that a wish said aloud is never granted….so I am going to hold out on number 2, ‘cause I know the impossibility of the first one. Before you step on stage for a gig, what do you do to prepare? Right before I get on stage, I stretch, crack whatever bones I can, make sure there are a couple of clean towels and some cold drinks near me- that’s about it. All the stressful stuff is done well before I get there.
What do your parents think of what you do? Have you ever taken them along to a gig? I am not quite sure they think to be frank, and no, I have never taken them to one of my shows.
If you could be remembered for one thing, what would it be? My ability to be upfront, honest, and professional at the same time. I urge you to find more than 10 people in this business that pride themselves on these traits and practice them religiously. Having spent so much time on aeroplanes, are you an official member of the mile high club? Ask my wife - see if she blushes! |
