|Beat Broker shoots the breeze for 5 minutes with Pilooski, 1 half of Parisian duo Discodeine.
Tell us about the first time you were really inspired by music?
I must have been 5 & i remember watching Sergio Leone movies on tv on a sunday night when (i was not really allowed to) & being very touched by the music of Ennio Morricone. My mum then bought me a best of at the local supermarket, probably the first record i ever got & the reason why the music of Morricone is so special to me.
What do you consider to be your greatest skill?
Spontaneity, perfectionism & being umpredictable (which is also my biggest default for some people around me)
Name two albums you keep very close to hand. And Why
Probably would be a different answer tomorrow but today i would say:
Cliff Martinez's Solaris Soundtrack: it just makes me very melancholic and eventually shivers.
Some early records by Drexciyia: it really combines modernity, minimalism, ruffness & perfection to me.
The road to musical success is often long and hard. What is one lesson you have learnt along the way that changed the way you saw things?
I like to think i learn everyday, my biggest achievement would be to trust my feelings in general
Who inspires you? (Both in life and in music)
The beloved ones
Tell us a quirky fact about yourself no one else knows!
I don't like beer, which in some country can be seen as very offensive...
If you could have two wishes come true what would they be?
Have the opportunity to make music the longest that i possibly can.
buy & house in the south for the ones i love, southern light has a great effect on me
Before you step on stage for a gig, what do you do to prepare?
I never do, i don't like the idea of preparing things in general, so i usually have a glass of vodka & ice, trying to make jokes in French
What do your parents think of what you do? Have you ever taken them along to a gig?
My dad frequently ask me what i do for a living "in real life", my mum is very supportive as long as i'm well dressed...
If you could be remembered for one thing, what would it be?
The good times
Having spent so much time on aeroplanes, are you an official member of the mile high
No, i'm very bad at getting organised for these kind of things...
